Unique Date Night or Valentine’s Day Ideas

We don’t know about you, but when we see Valentine’s Day decorations coming out alongside the Christmas clearance sales, we just shake our heads in bewilderment. One of our common complaints is the materialization of any holiday so that there is some underlying perception that if we don’t participate in the gifting, or don’t have enough money in our budget to so do, that we don’t care for our spouse, family, or friends.

Since many of our couples at Legacy Court Apartments in Midvale, Utah are budget conscience, we wanted to share some budget friendly date night tips for Valentine’s Day as a way to have a special night without breaking the bank. With a little extra thought and some creativity, you can create a romantic date night for you and your honey.

Unlock your inner sleuth

Do you and your spouse like to watch crime shows or movies and determine whodunnit? Believe it or not, there are companies that will send you a complete mystery in the mail. Some of these are geared for children, so you will want to check ages, etc. You receive the background information on a case, clues, etc. It’s up to you to solve the crime. These can be pricey, so watch for the fees. To cut down on the cost, see if your like-minded friends or family would like to split the cost with you and rotate the clues through your group.

Go make someone’s day

You and your spouse can go out and find ways to help others or brighten their days. Walk around the parking lot at a grocery store and help people with their bags. Leave post-it notes with kind words on mirrors in public bathrooms, on books in the library, or just hand them to people you walk past who seem to be having a tough day. When you’re done, get ice cream and talk about your experiences. Lifting others’ spirits often helps raise our own.

Go carpet camping

You can set up a tent in your living room, pack snacks, tell ghost stories right in your living room. You don’t need a “real” tent to do so; you can build a blanket fort in its glory in your living room. Use jar candles to make roasted marshmallows or s’mores if you’re adventurous. Just have some simple fun.

We hope that these ideas have inspired you to find a simple way to enjoy your significant other without breaking the bank. If you think of any more, drop us a line at our Midvale apartments.
